Adult Day Care

Adult Day Care Centers are drop-in facilities that offer assisted care on a daily, weekly or part-time basis. They are designed for seniors who cannot be left on their own during the day due to the medical needs associated with their healthcare, memory loss, and/or disability, as well as their needs for companionship. These facilities provide a monitored social and recreational setting for seniors, and make health-related services available for various levels of care.

Independent Living

Independent living communities are a form of housing specifically designed for seniors in reasonably good health over the age of 55. Independent living facilities are available in a variety of standard housing styles, including apartments, townhouses and single-family homes. Oftentimes, these communities offer planned activities for their members and assistance with maintenance issues, such as yard work or home repair. As the name suggests, residents maintain a largely independent lifestyle in these communities and are able to carry out all the normal activities of daily living.

Assisted Living

Assisted Living Communities provide supervision or assistance with daily living activities as well as medical care. These communities offer apartment-style living with full meal preparation and service. A menu of services are offered based on the level of care required, including personal assistance with everyday tasks such as bathing, dressing, and socializing with fellow members as well as medical services. Often, these communities also offer a host of planned activities and outings for the residents.

Nursing Home

Nursing homes are residence facilities for seniors who have physical or mental health issues that prevent them from living on their own. They offer 24-hour care from licensed nursing staff or certified nursing assistants. Nursing homes are for seniors who need higher levels of care, like those who are bed bound, need a respirator or are convalescing from an accident or fall. Nursing homes provide both private or shared rooms, prepared meals, and frequent interaction though recreational and living activities.

Memory Care

Memory care, also known as dementia care, is a specialized type of service for seniors who are dealing with various forms of dementia, such as Alzheimer’s disease. Memory care facilities are staffed with specially trained personnel who have experience with the complexities of these medical conditions, and sensitivity to the ways they affect emotional health. These facilities provide a safe and monitored setting that alerts staff if a resident has exited or is coping with other issues.

Hospice

A hospice provides compassionate end-of-life care that eases the physical and emotional discomfort experienced by the terminally ill. Hospice services are both medical and psychological in nature, designed to help patients, their caregivers and other loved ones. Hospice care can be offered in the home or in a specialized hospice facility.
